Results of the national preliminary round for the 2nd International Competition of Polish Music

Warsaw, Poland (May 5, 2021)

On May 4-5, Warsaw hosted the national preliminary round for the 2nd Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music for contestants with Polish citizenship or holders of a Polish Ethnicity Card, regardless of their current place of residence.

The Selection Board made up of Jarosław Drzewiecki, Andrzej Tatarski and Tadeusz Wojciechowski qualified the following pianists and chamber ensembles for the first stage of the 2nd Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music, to be held on September 11-18, 2021 in Rzeszów (listed in alphabetical order):

Apart from being exempted from paying the entrance fees, the aforementioned contestants will receive a stipend to cover their respective transportation and accommodation expenses for their stay in Rzeszów during the Competition.

We would like to remind you that any candidates who failed to register for the national preliminary round may still submit their Competition applications under the open call for applications, extended to all candidates regardless of citizenship and age and closing on May 31, 2021.

Upon due consideration, the Selection Board unanimously concluded that the level of qualifiers was good (at times very good), and that all candidates had been adequately prepared. ?Stipend recipients have until September to polish their repertoires,? said Andrzej Tatarski on conclusion of the selection proceedings.

The Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music is organized by the Institute of Music and Dance and the Artur Malawski Podkarpacka Philharmonic in Rzeszów. The Competition is financed by the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda. The Competition is a member of the Alink-Argerich Foundation?s piano competitions network.

Today marks the 202nd birthday of Stanisław Moniuszko, the patron of the Competition. On this occasion, the Institute of Music and Dance has released a rebranded digital image of the composer. The graphic art was designed by Marcin Władyka, a graphic designer and faculty member at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
